- Start: Final destination of the bus at Aeschiried Schulhaus
- Destination: Obersuld
The starting point is the post bus terminus at Aeschiried school, just a few steps away from the trail, ski rental station and ski pass counter. The route leads in the classic or skate technique over an undulating meadow in the direction of Suldtal. The views from here of the mountains around Aeschiried are breathtaking. The valley gradually narrows and you become enveloped by the silence and captivated by the idyllic surroundings and the rays of sunlight piercing the wintry landscape. This largely unspoilt mountain valley at the foot of the Morgenberghorn is a nature reserve. Black grouse, chamois and deer roam in forests and meadows, and orchids and gentians blossom abundantly in spring. You might even glimpse a pair of golden eagles soaring high above. The winter sports enthusiast follows the skating trail, stopping for a breather on one or more ascents, while the classic trail follows in part the Suldbach stream before it plunges to the depths from a height of 80 metres. Arriving in Suld near the Restaurant Gasthaus Suld (unfortunately closed in winter), the trail then enters a steep ascent and ends several bends later in Obersuld. Here is the turning point, and it is worthwhile taking a break to soak up the majestic mountain panorama. Take the trail back to the starting point; this time with a rapid ascent to the Pochten Waterfall and an undulating route back to Aeschiried. This cross-country skiing experience leaves you with both tired legs and a wealth of enriching impressions.
For a special experience, travel across the 4 km long illuminated cross-country trails at night, automatically lit every evening from Monday to Friday.
