The Niederhorn is, without doubt, one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the Bernese Oberland. Here the panoramic views extend from high alpine peaks all the way to Jura. As you trace the wide arc of the winter trail down to Waldegg, constantly shifting glimpses of the panorama pass before your eyes. As well as long flat phases, the trail has a number of steep downhill sections, making it suitable for a toboggan descent. The route is marked with green signboards and posts.

A cable car takes visitors from the traditional tourist town of Beatenberg to the Niederhorn. Just a few steps from the mountain station is the peak, where the views are simply overwhelming. To the east is the chain of the Brienz Rothorn alongside the high Bernese alps and the proud Three Peaks of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau; then come the countless peaks of the Kander, Engstligen and Simmental valleys. There is also a stunning view across Thun and its environs to the Swiss capital beyond; on the horizon in the northwest is the Jura range, with the Chasseral providing the clearest reference point. To the north the Justis valley spreads before you, while the other side is defined by the Sigriswiler Rothorn chain. From the Niederhorn, the route runs below the Güggisgrat ridge; the trail is straight at first, then descends sharply at times to Oberburgfeld. The path is wide and prepared by snow groomers, so it can easily accommodate both tobogganers and hikers. As the path opens out, the route continues to slope down to Unterburgfeld. Here you follow a flat forest path through sparse firs and mountain pines, a captivating section of the route as the views of the Jungfrau peaks constantly shift. After the Chüematte, you once again proceed down through open terrain. The path leads above the Hohwald ski lift, to east of the ski slopes and quickly over the Waldeggallmi to the Beatenberg/Waldegg settlement before running down to the PostBus station, the final destination.
